The box was constructed to the dimensions specified out of cardboard. The materials I used was gold leaf, colored pencils, and various card stock.

I love romance. I feel like everything about life is simply alluding to it one way or another.

I spent this past fall being engaged to my best friend, whom I am now married to.

We are a young couple; he was 23, I was 21. But do not take our relationship lightly! It has the advantage of being born of a time when our youth allows our feelings to be frighteningly powerful. Life goes on, and major challenges with life are undoubtably just out of sight. But every fall when the air begins to be chill, the feeling will always allow us to be able to slip back into the memories of our unions roots. A feeling that I can't describe with words, but attempted to do so with this diorama.

I also wanted to capture the aesthetics of my engagement ring, which is an antique Art Nouveau style band with flowers and swirls.

this is absolutely gorgeous! i love the different angles - wish i could see it in person. i can't imagine the patience and time it must have taken to do the leaves. the gold looks so amazing with the turquoise/green and flowers, too.

also, good tidings on your marriage

i just got engaged myself to the person i've been seeing since i was 20 (26 now) - so looking back on how i felt then i don't think it's so weird. once you find that person and you know.... its only a matter of time, whether sooner or later.
